Pigs Could Be Responsible For Ebola In Uganda
A new study by the Nairobi – based International Livestock Research
Institute suggests that pigs could be partially responsible for frequent
outbreaks of Ebola in Uganda.
The outbreaks can also expose Western Kenya. The livestock research institution says pigs are the only domestic animals known to be infected with Ebola naturally.
The study also presents strong circumstancial evidence that they could be responsible for some infections in Uganda.
“Where these pigs scavange for food, they come in contact with
dropped fruit, excrement, saliva, urine an feaces from suitable fruit
bat hosts of Ebola,” says the study.
