Van Gaal,62 is set to be confirmed as United’s new boss
within 24 hours and the current squad will find him a hard taskmaster.
Van Gaal and Ryan Riggs |
The former Ajax, Barcelona and
Bayern Munich coach has been responsible for nurturing and developing some of
Europe’s finest talents over the past two decades.
The blunt Dutchman will look to
impose his own authority and style from the moment he walks through the door at
the club’s Carrington training complex.
His CV suggests the former
midfielder has what it takes.
The new United boss’s policy of retaining a member of the existing coaching staff when he takes over is the reason he was keen to keep on Ryan Giggs.
Van Gaal intends to tap into Giggs’ knowledge of
United, particularly with regard to the young players coming
through.
Giggs, 40, gave first-team debuts to
United youngsters James Wilson and Tom Lawrence in his penultimate game as
temporary boss.
And Van Gaal is keen to embrace the
emerging talent within the Old Trafford
