Kenyans are still puzzled by Office of the president's move to advertise
tenders to airlift presidential Speeches as they fathom high cost of
living and burgeoning wage bill.
In a local daily, the country's ministry of Interior coordination
floated a tender with an attached bid bond valued at Sh 500,000.
The bid bond simply means failure to deliver the speeches the state will receive the amount from supplier's insurance provider.
However, more questions still linger in heads of many, why the Digital
government as it has come to be known is sourcing for an independent
supplier instead of using secure means.
Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the
President of the Republic of Kenya, Dennis Itumbi shortly updated
his twitter handle.
"I hold the strong opinion that in a digital age
we have no business flying speeches. Jubilee believes in the digital
space," he wrote.
Further, he added "For now the speeches have to be flown since we have no alternative, but
equal creativity will be invested in developing a secure portal."
