X TOUCH PHONE OPENS IN KENYA

X touch consumer electronics has set shop in Kenya to tap into the growing smartphone market.
This is expected to unsettle the nascent market .

The dubai based company has said it will from Monday start rolling out affordable smartphones, tablets and smart watches.

significantly it sparks price wars with existing giants, Samsung, Sony Experia, motorola and Nokia. its intention it announced was to tap into the niche of value phones.

The company's Managing director, Robert liang, said a local survey indicated a 75 percent growth in the cheap smartphone offering.

"The value phones will become mainstream as more Kenyans shift from feature phones," said Liang.

 X touch will retail its flagship smartphone X3 at Sh 30,000 and its entry level device at Sh 6,000. other products it launched yesterday include a range of three  tablets, smart watches working independently through sim cards an a host of  Mi Fi routers.

It has been in operation over the last two years making inroads to over 35 countries in middleesat, Europe and Africa.

In Africa it has offices in South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.

Kenya will act as its regional office.
