A group of lawyers, activists and journalists were detained for hours in the home of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama after they entered the home with the invitation from the senator's wife.

he lawyers accompanied by journalists went to help the senator's first wife Agnes Kavindu Muthama who lives in squalor after electricity and water were disconnected from the home, and she is forced to live with a group of hostile staff.
After Agnes took the lawyers and journalists round the home, they were accosted by a team of hostile staff and guards who locked the gates after instructions from Muthama.

They were rescued on Tuesday evening after police intervened.
