Two men
appeared in court today in connection with the murder of a missing schoolgirl -
with one charged with having sex with her corpse.
Robert
Ewing, 59, was today charged with murder and intending to pervert the course of
justice. Gareth Dewhurst, 45, was charged with assisting an offender, intending
to pervert the course of justice and sexual penetration of a corpse.
Both men,
from Blackpool, later appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court.
Teenager Paige
Chivers was just 15 years old when she vanished from her home in Bispham,
Blackpool, in August 2007 after a family row. Since then, there have been no
corroborated sightings of her and no contact with her family or friends and her
body has never been found.
Paige’s
mother Sheila, 48, died from a heart attack six months before her daughter
disappeared.
