.
Baltimore, USA: Residents were evacuated and gas supplies cut off after an entire street in Baltimore was swallowed up by a huge sinkhole.

An enormous sinkhole has swallowed up parked cars and buried a railway on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland, in the US.

Parts of East 26th Street collapsed into the sinkhole yesterday afternoon, consuming the entire length of the road in scenes resembling a landslide.

As a precaution authorities have cut off all gas supplies to the area and several residents have been evacuated from their homes. The incident occurred after torrential rain had been pouring on the area for several days.

Incredibly, no-one was injured during the incident - but residents have been warned to stay away from the area until it is deemed safe.
